One of Liverpool's main problems at the start of the season has been in attack. Since Senegalese striker Sadio Mané left Anfield for the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, the burden automatically shifted to Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino, followed shortly after by Uruguayan Darwin Núñez, a player who has been severely criticised for his high cost and lack of effectiveness on the pitch at the start of the campaign in England.

It is still inexplicable why the Reds decided to sell Mané if they did not have a reliable backup in his position, but according to the words of former Liverpool midfielder Salif Diao, the Senegalese did not feel comfortable not having the affection to make him feel at home, and that was not a problem for the fans but rather for manager Jurgen Klopp.

Once Mané's departure from Liverpool was consummated during the summer transfer window, former player Salif knew it would be difficult to find a substitute who could do similar things to the Senegalese, saying that even for Núñez this will be a big challenge, because behind the great player who is now Bayern's killer, there was always a lot of work that not many people noticed during his time on Merseyside.

Once he made the decision to join Liverpool in 2016, Mané scored 120 goals in 269 appearances for the Reds, being a mainstay in Klopp's side as game after game he helped this institution win every major title on offer. However, his compatriot Diao has hinted at a possible rift in relations with his manager, leading to the departure of the Senegal international with his sights now set on Germany.

Salif Diao blamed the German coach

The new Bayern Munich acquisition has already scored on five occasions in his eleven appearances in red but playing for the Bavarians, demonstrating in a few games that he has the potential to be the natural understudy to Robert Lewandowski, while at Liverpool, this situation is not going well as none of the strikers have been able to make up for the absence of the Senegalese, with Roberto Firmino being one of the most efficient, although his appearances always come from the bench.
