One of Jürgen Klopp's short-term objectives is to renew his midfield, which is currently his biggest problem. In the summer he thought about Aurélien Tchouaméni, who ended up signing for Real Madrid, and now the same could happen with Jude Bellingham. The British midfielder is his main target for 2023, but he knows the competition is very high, so he has decided to choose a plan B if his signing fails.

As reported by Football Insider, Liverpool have turned their attention to West Ham United FC midfielder Declan Rice as an alternative. Liverpool have a midfield problem to solve, which has been exacerbated by the injury to Arthur, who will be out for three to four months. Given this situation, Bellingham is one of Klopp's main options to strengthen the squad.

The problem is that there is a lot of competition for the Briton, as Chelsea and Real Madrid are also on his list of suitors. The white club seemed to be the Borussia Dortmund player's favourite option, however, the latest proposal from the 'reds', who promise him a salary of 18 million euros per season, could have changed the order of preferences.

Klopp is going all-in for Bellingham and is ready to make him the fifth-highest paid player in the Premier League and second only to Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. Despite this, Anfield have doubts about what could happen in the coming months and have therefore looked for an alternative in case the British midfielder ends up choosing Real Madrid.

Klopp wants Declan Rice

The option of Marcelo Brozovic has been joined by Declan Rice, who is currently worth 80 million euros and is valued by West Ham at around 115 kilos. According to the aforementioned source, Klopp would consider his arrival in 2024, the year his contract with the London club expires, so he could arrive for free, a much cheaper deal than that of Bellingham, for whom Borussia Dortmund will not go below three figures.
