The Uruguayan has not started the preseason on target and has already received the first criticisms, to which he has responded with a message on Twitter.

Darwin Núñez is one of the men of the summer on planet soccer, one of the most notorious signings in this transfer market. The Uruguayan has been the most expensive signing in the history of Liverpool (75 million fixed and 25 million more in variables). A figure that shows very clearly Liverpool’s confidence in his abilities but, also, a heavy burden in the event that things do not go as planned. As in this preseason.

The former Benfica played 28 minutes against Manchester United in the first game of Liverpool 2022/23 and 34 minutes in the second against Crystal Palace. In his time in the pitch, he went somewhat unnoticed and showed that he is still far from his peak form. Something completely logical in a pre-season and even more usual after a change of scenery. However, Darwin already has critics on his back.

The Uruguayan striker has already received incriminating messages on social networks, but he has not been intimidated, on the contrary. To silence his critics, he posted a tweet with the word "resilience" and an emoticon asking for silence. It is up to him to turn the murmurs into applause in the Anfield stands.

Klopp has Nuñez's back

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp came to the defense of Darwin Nunez after a tame performance from the striker in the Reds' first preseason match against Manchester United. The manager admitted that Nuñez did not arrive in top form and needs time to adapt, which is normal in any transfer.
