Darwin Nunez was Liverpool's hero a week ago when, coming on as a substitute and with a player less on the pitch, he scored the two goals with which Liverpool defeated Newcastle, which earned him the praise of fans, his teammates and of course of Jürgen Klopp himself, who rewarded him by returning him to the starting lineup in the match against Aston Villa.
Although Darwin could not keep his scoring streak against Aston Villa, he was very incisive and generated a lot of danger on the rival goal, as he was even the one who caused the own goal that meant the 2-0 in favor of our Liverpool, so although he did not score a goal, the fans were satisfied with his performance.
Now, with the international break, Darwin Nunez will travel with the Uruguayan national team to play the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup in which they will face Chile and Ecuador, and it is expected that in both matches, our striker will have minutes of play and will be an important man in the scheme of the Uruguayan national team coach Marcelo Bielsa.
Darwin Nunez himself revealed a few days ago that he had a conversation via Zoom with Bielsa, who helped him to improve some aspects of his game, so it is fair to say that the former coach of Leeeds has Nunez in mind as a very important player for the Uruguayan project and now, he has given good news to our Liverpool player.
Marcelo Bielsa has made official the call-up of 25 players who could be active in the international break with the Uruguay national team and, to the surprise of many, he has left out Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani, so Darwin Nunez is expected to be the starting striker for those matches against Chile and Ecuador.
