Having contributed a goal and an assist in the match against Toulouse, Darwin Nunez is not holding back in his quest to continue to prove his high level of play at every opportunity, erasing almost all doubts about his signing for the time being with all-round displays that only occasionally fail to produce a goal, something that has happened even with the likes of Luis Suarez and Fernando “Niño” Torres.

In terms of goals and style of play, many see Nunez as the spitting image of his former striker, Luis Suarez, but when it comes to certain failures in front of goal, the link between Darwin and Fernando Torres is being mentioned more and more, and it is not for less if you take as a reference the Uruguayan's failure against Toulouse alone in front of goal, something that happened with Niño Torres against Manchester United while playing for Chelsea.

Nunez's verticality does bear some similarities to the style Torres used to play, with the Uruguayan having even better opportunities to exploit these resources because he has a much better physique than Fernando, with the former Spain international beating the Charrúa when it comes to having to define in front of goal with short reaction times.

With Nunez being compared to the great strikers the team has had, it is evident that there is an intangible pressure that he must carry now that his level has improved considerably, not being at all easy to try to have in a few seasons numbers equal to those of Suarez or Torres, leaving the Spaniard in 142 games as a Reds player a record of 81 goals and 15 assists, while Suarez made in 13 games 82 goals for 46 assists.

Darwin in search of team status

Without looking for comparisons or living under the shadow of his compatriot Luis Suarez, Darwin Nunez wants to forge his career within the Reds during these next few seasons, having a very complicated task as the goals and assists must continue to appear continuously to be able to place his name in the historical books of the institution, having a great guide called Mohamed Salah who today is still trying to break more records that make him the best of the club of all time.
