Darwin Núnez again, forces Liverpool to pay millions of euros for his guilt

Hired for 75 million euros, with another 25 million in bonuses, Darwin Núñez may soon earn Benfica another five million euros. This is because that first bonus will be activated once the Uruguayan has made his 10th start in a Liverpool shirt, something that is only six games away: so far, the Uruguayan has been used as a starter by Jurgen Klopp on four occasions, the last of which was against Arsenal (2-3), a game in which he scored a goal last Sunday.

When he makes 35 starts (in all competitions), Liverpool will have to pay another tranche of five million euros to SAD Encarnada, with another five million coming once Darwin reaches 60 games in the starting eleven. The remaining ten million bonus is dependent on the individual performance of the player and also of Liverpool.

Darwin scored a goal in Liverpool's 7-1 win against Rangers. In his analysis of the encounter, Jurgen Klopp said of the Uruguayan striker: "You could see Darwin, for him this [scoring] means the world." The former Benfica player has now scored for two consecutive games and the German coach was pleased. "You could see the relief on Darwin's face tonight," he mentioned.

Liverpool must now pay Benfica the 1st £4 million bonus for Darwin Núñez after the striker made his 10th start for the Reds yesterday. Only £65 million of the total £85 million has been paid in advance. The remainder of the fee will come via a variety of bonuses, the first of which was activated yesterday. The Reds are expected to pay a further £8.5 million when Núñez reaches 60 appearances for the club.

Darwin Núñez scored his first Champions League goal in a Liverpool shirt as the Reds thrashed Rangers of Scotland away in the fourth round of Champions League Group A action.  The Uruguayan scored in the 66th minute with a great finish at the far post after an exquisite back-heel assist from Roberto Firmino. In last week's match against Rangers, goalkeeper Allan McGregor was a huge figure in the first half in which he saved four chances from Nunez, who shot from different angles.  This time, the goalkeeper seemed to be reluctant to make a technical gesture in front of the Uruguayan who scored the transitional 3-1.
