Curtis Jones had a fantastic summer after being one of the best players in the England team that won the U21 Euro, as he was named Man of the Match in several games and also scored the winning goal in the final. His strong performances for England have raised the expectations of Liverpool fans, as the 22-year-old midfielder is one of the team's most promising players.

After his great summer, Jones joined Liverpool's pre-season training camp and has already been involved with the team. Jones himself has said that he is willing to play in any position that Jürgen Klopp puts him in, as what he wants is to get a lot of playing time and it looks like this new season will be ideal for him in that regard.

With the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Klopp has been trying to fill the number six slot in the team and has tried putting Trent-Alexander Arnold there, however although he has not done badly, it is not the position in which he performs best and that is why against Leicester City he returned to his natural position of right back.

Curtis Jones played the last game against Leicester in that position and his performance was outstanding as he finished with 57 completed passes, two tackles won and 64 touches, aspects in which he led the entire Liverpool team during the 45 minutes he played. However Klopp is unsure about leaving him as a number six.

Klopp's words

"Curtis on six (position) today in first half. It's interesting. From a football point of view, it would make massive sense but obviously we have to see how compact we can be. It's always the same, whoever you have as the six. If you are not compact, the six is lost. If you are compact, it's not as difficult to do. I'm really curious about that as well, how that looks," he said.
