There is no doubt that one of the best strikers to have played for Liverpool in its history is Uruguayan Luis Suarez. Since his arrival at the club in 2011, Lucho proved that he had the qualities and talent to become an all-time goalscorer and boy did he succeed. However, unfortunately for Reds fans, Suarez was so good that he attracted interest from big teams and ended up leaving the club after only 2.5 years.

Luis Suarez did not need much time to win the affection of the fans at Anfield. His great goals and huge performances made him an instant favorite of the fans, who enjoyed every second Suarez stepped on the mythical Anfield pitch. But in 2014, FC Barcelona convinced him to join them and, after paying almost €82 million, Suarez left Liverpool.

His departure left a huge hole, difficult to fill, as Luis Suarez had by then become the best center forward in the world. However, the Liverpool board thought they had found his replacement when they signed Mario Balotelli in 2014, who after a disappointing spell of just 4 goals, left.

But a year later, with the arrival of Jürgen Klopp to the Reds' bench, a new striker also arrived who promised to be even better than Luis Suarez himself as he had proven to have the ability to score goals in the Premier League and also had better physical qualities than the Uruguayan striker. We are talking about Christian Benteke, the Belgian striker who could never shine at Anfield.

Benteke's numbers at Liverpool

Christian Benteke arrived at Anfield in 2015 when Liverpool paid 46.5 million euros for him from Aston Villa, where he had scored 49 goals. However, with our club, he only scored 10 and the disappointment was such that Klopp didn't want him in the team anymore and sold him to Crystal Palace a year later for €31.2 million. Currently he is no longer playing in Europe but in the MLS.
