One of the most talked-about signings in the Premier League in recent years. The rivalry between Liverpool and United may increase, even more, after the 'reds' have gone ahead of Old Trafford to sign Cody Gakpo. When everything seemed closed, they have surprised by announcing the signing of the former PSV player.

Liverpool are looking for a major transition to the Firmino, Salah and Mané era. After splashing out on Dawrin Nunez in the summer and Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota in the past, Gakpo is yet another stepping stone to completing a guaranteed attack in the future. Liverpool have been a club used to many contrasts in recent decades. According to Betfair odds, Liverpool's top-four finish is priced at €1.57 per euro bet and has been trending positively since Gakpo's announcement.

Liverpool's history is a changing one and with signings such as Gakpo they are looking to gain stability. In the 1990s, it was a dry spell with United and Arsenal dominating. In the 2000s, all sorts of things happened at Anfield. In 2001 they won the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup, Community Shield and European Super Cup. Yet Liverpool still failed to win the Premier League. However, they won the European Cup in 2005 even though they finished the league 36 points behind the league leaders and outside the top four.

After making his debut for the Reds at the weekend in the FA Cup against Wolverhampton, Cody Gakpo is hoping to make his Premier League debut soon. However, according to Sussex World, he would not be fit to make his first-team debut against Brighton on Saturday.

Mané ready to return

Meanwhile, Liverpool legend Sadio Mané is set to return after missing the World Cup. The Senegalese had a major injury and has now returned to fitness work to be back on the pitch soon. The striker will soon be back in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
