Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace as Al Nassr beat Qatar's Al Duhail 4-3 to take his side to three wins in as many games. Cristiano Ronaldo scored to make it 3-0 and 4-2 to seal a win that was jeopardised in the final stretch by a goal from Kenya's Michael Olunga five minutes from time and which, despite the Portuguese star's good performance, ended up being a much more even match than could have been expected.
Also scoring for Al Nassr were Brazil's Anderson Talisca in the 25th minute and Senegal's Sadio Mané in the 56th minute, before the Portuguese star made it 3-0 for his compatriot Luis Castro's side. Ismaeel Mohammad in the 63rd minute and Almoez Ali in the 67th minute could have pulled one back for Qatar's Al Duhail, but Cristiano Ronaldo was able to settle the score in the 81st minute of a match that ended badly for the Saudis.
With the win, Al Nassr lead Group E of the Asian Champions League with nine points from three matches, three points ahead of Iran's Persepolis and already eight clear of Al Duhail and Tajikistan's Istiqlol Dushanbe. However, the Saudi side's encounters have been tough, but with the advantage of having been able to settle. While Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo continues to add to his tally at the age of 38, he is so far the leading scorer of the year and also contributed to his team's qualification for the next European Nations Cup.
While the Portuguese can boast about his goals in Arabia, in the last few hours the results of the voting for the 2005 Ballon d'Or winner went viral on social media and it was found that Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher finished tied with Cristiano Ronaldo who was already playing for Manchester United, but did not have the recognition that Carragher had.
