Arriving at a club as big as Liverpool is not easy for many players, who despite having the talent, are unable to show a good level of play at Anfield and end up being a big disappointment after arriving as big stars.
That is what happened to Mario Balotelli, who in 2014 arrived at Anfield to fill the void left by the departure of Luis Suarez. The Reds board paid AC Milan 20 million to sign Mario, and at the time many fans were thrilled because they thought it was a bargain price for a player who had shown he had the qualities to become the next great striker in European football.
However, Mario Balotelli's time at Liverpool was an unmitigated disaster. His indiscipline and nocturnal lifestyle never allowed him to become the striker everyone thought he could be and his numbers were disappointing. In 28 games, Balotelli only scored 4 goals, a figure that was far too low for the fans to turn their backs on him, as the Italian striker never showed any real commitment to our club.
After failing at Anfield and disappointing all Liverpool fans, Mario Balotelli had a brief spell at AC Milan and Marseille, the last top level clubs he played for, as his level gradually declined and his lack of professionalism never let him consolidate in any team. He is currently under contract with FC Sion in the second division of Swiss football.
