One of Jürgen Klopp's big targets during the latter part of this summer's transfer window was midfielder Andre Trindade, who belongs to Brazilian side Fluminense. Several reports claim that the Anfield board did make an attempt to sign him this summer, but that the Brazilian club did not want to sell him due to the fact that they are competing for the Copa Libertadores title, the most important club competition in South America.
However, it has been said that Fluminense are not refusing to allow Andre to leave for Liverpool, but that any attempt to sign him will have to come in January, when the Brazilian club's season is over. In that sense, it seems that the Anfield board could make a move to try to sign him in the winter market and apparently the transfer fee would not be a problem.
Andre was seen this summer as the perfect long-term replacement for Fabinho, who left Anfield this summer to join the long list of players who left European football to move to the Saudi Pro League and earn millions. The departure of the Brazilian defensive midfielder left a big hole in the team that many believe Andre could have filled, however it seems that the board's plan was not to make Andre the replacement for a player who is still currently in the squad.
According to the Liverpool Echo, our Liverpool would see Andre as the perfect replacement for Thiago Alcantara, who is likely to leave the club at the end of next season as his contract expires. Fluminense are currently said to value Andre at £30 million, a price that would not be a problem for the Anfield board.
