In order to qualify for the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp acknowledged Liverpool needed perform "exceptional" in the second half of the season, however, the strain of the Reds pursuing them will be felt by the teams in front of them on the table, due to their slow start to the 2022–23 Premier League season, Liverpool now sits in sixth place.
It will be difficult for Klopp's team to make it into Europe's premier club championship for a seventh consecutive year given that they are five points outside the top four. The desirable positions are held by Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur, with the revitalized Manchester United also ahead of the Reds.
Even if Liverpool is falling behind, Klopp is adamant that his team will fight to place in the top four. To be honest, it is difficult every year, he remarked. For the past four years, we have done it pretty early, which is a credit to us. We always anticipated Newcastle would be a serious competitor moving forwards, and while Man Utd and Arsenal are undoubtedly having an incredible season,
We still have the utmost respect for them, "We encounter some of them, and we feel pressure just as other teams do because it's uncomfortable to be three or five points behind you. That offers you no protection at all. However, if we want to qualify for the Champions League, we must perform exceptionally well in the second half of the season.
The leading title challengers are Arsenal (40 points) and Man City (35) with Newcastle (33) in third place, there are some "amazing" games left in the season, according to Klopp, who acknowledges that the top two teams are poised to finish in Champions League spots, the Liverpool manager continued, "It appears that way right now, but Newcastle is extremely close, do we battle for one location?
