Liverpool beat ManCity at home by the narrowest of margins to maintain their dominance over the Citizens in the Premier League

The Reds capped a great week by winning their second consecutive match. In the middle of the week they travelled to Glasgow to thrash Rangers FC 7-1 in the Champions League, while last weekend they beat Manchester City 1-0 at home, who fell behind in the race for the top spot, which now goes to surprise package Arsenal, who are dreaming of the Premier League after almost 20 years of waiting.

One of the players who is being a determining factor for the Reds to recover ground after the atypical moment they are living in the Premier League, is the Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who since the beginning of the championship has played all the minutes so far this semester, including the activity with his national team in the past friendly games played in France.

Guardiola never wants to return to Anfield, reveals embarrassing moment against Liverpool

Becker uncharacteristically set a new record and became the best assist man in his position in La Liga this weekend. The former AS Roma goalkeeper has assisted Mohamed Salah three times in the Premier League, the most assists a goalkeeper has ever given to a single player, with Pharaoh Salah's goal taking his tally to 11.

Alisson's late goal, after a clearance in the box, sent the ball to Salah who took speed and did not spare the Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, unleashing the madness at Anfield. This action rewarded a Liverpool side that never gave up the fight, as they faced not only Arsenal's second-placed side, but league leading scorer Erling Haaland, who was denied.

Alisson arrived at Anfield for 73 million, signing for six seasons and becoming the most expensive signing for a goalkeeper in history, surpassing the 52.9 million Juventus paid Parma for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001. Since then, a recent Liverpool success story has been formed, as Becker has been a mainstay in winning the UEFA Champions League, Club World Cup, European Super Cup, FA Cup, League Cup and, of course, the Premier League.
