The Reds went down 1-3 to Lyon, where Lacazette shone with two goals

After the semi-finals of Qatar 2022 were decided, the weekend concluded with a friendly duel on the world stage, with two historic clubs clashing in a land outside of Europe, the Middle East. On a tour of the United Arab Emirates, the Reds took on Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyon, where they were beaten 3-1 with Lacazette scoring twice.

This result not only left Jürgen Klopp in disbelief, who saw how his players were unable to hold on to the early lead they had gained through Fabio Carvalho's goal (1') and so, with a series of mistakes where even Mohamed Salah missed a penalty, the Red's went through a bitter moment to be beaten 3-1 by a Lyon side that, like Liverpool, had significant absentees due to the World Cup.

Germany decides on Hansi Flick's future, Jürgen Klopp guilty

Liverpool star's improved transfer worth is a result of some incredibly strong England performances

With the score tied at one goal, Klopp decided to make a cascade of changes, including England's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has not been a regular this term, but even so, the German coach believed in him again, giving him half a game, and with it, the confirmation that the former Arsenal FC has one foot out of Anfield, after his poor numbers this term.

OX arrived on Merseyside in the summer of 2017, within the peak of his professional career. After the 38 million Euros the Red's paid in London, the Arsène Wegner-polished gem arrived with high expectations that gradually fizzled out through constant injuries and poor performances, which ended up sending the then England international to the substitutes' bench.

Chamberlain leaves Liverpool

Touring for the Red's brings back bad memories for Chamberlain, who suffered a nasty hamstring injury during pre-season training in Singapore last summer. That would mean the 29-year-old would miss a three-month absence where the position he was fighting for was absorbed by other Ther Pool stars. The future of the once national star seems to be set once Klopp does not validate his renewal in 2023.
