The Egyptian provided a pair of outstanding first-half finishes in the Premier League contest that secured three points despite a response from Harry Kane after the break. The brace improved Salah’s scoring record against Spurs to eight in 12 appearances for the Reds in all competitions – and ensured Jürgen Klopp’s side followed up their 2-0 win over Napoli in midweek.
After the final whistle, the No.11 spoke to Sky Sports about the game, his knack of netting versus the Londoners and the importance of building on this week’s results.
Read a summary of his interview below… On passing a ‘real test’ in the second half… We played football, we managed to score two goals and second half I think we could have scored, but we were unlucky. The most important thing is we managed to get the three points.
On the importance of his first touch for scoring goals… It’s important, you always try to control in as small a space as you can because also in the box there are a few legs there. I think second half I could also have done the same but I was confident if I shoot in one time it was going to go in.

I’m always trying to have a good first touch because it puts me in a better position. I managed to do that today.
That’s a good one. It’s always a tough opponent, here or when we play at home. But I’m always focused on the game and trying to make a difference for the team. I did that today.
On whether this result, following the win over Napoli, can be a ‘turning point’… Hopefully. Before, we didn’t want to lose but that’s football and we have to accept it. We managed to strike back a few times in the season; we played very good games, like against [Manchester] City and against Napoli. Now, hopefully that gives us more confidence. We’ll just try to carry on and win games.
