The week started well for Liverpool and German manager Jürgen Klopp as one of the injured players was able to return to work. In total, the team had seven players on the casualty list due to medical problems, with Fabio Carvalho having to be substituted in Saturday's Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park after a collision with the opposition.
In a few hours, the Reds will make the trip to Italy to face Napoli on Wednesday at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in the first round of the Champions League group stage. But ahead of that, a new face was seen at Klopp's training session, raising hopes that he will soon be able to return to the pitch and help the team.

Ahead of Champions League kick-off, there's bad news at Liverpool
Liverpool's injury list includes Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, French defender Ibrahima Konaté, midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Guinea's Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara and captain Jordan Henderson, as well as Portuguese rookie Fabio Carvalho, who was the most recent injury.
This significant group of departures has forced Klopp to call for the signing of Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo, who arrived on loan from Juventus and will stay until June 2023 without an option to buy. The 26-year-old has already been on the bench in the Merseyside derby on Saturday but did not play. However, he could make his debut this Wednesday in the visit of Napoli.
The 31-year-old Spaniard Thiago Alcantara has been able to work out at Melwood and is expected to join up with his team-mates in the coming days. The midfielder suffered a muscle injury during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage. Since then he has been out of training for a month and has been the most requested player by the fans to return and help the team improve on the pitch.
