According to reports from Spain, Trent Alexander-Arnold is Barcelona's main target for right-back. Barcelona tried last summer to sign César Azpilicueta from Chelsea, but in the end they had to settle for an emergency solution in the form of Héctor Bellerín, but that has not been what was expected and coach Xavi Hernández wants a new player immediately.
A lot would have to change for the former Betis man to continue at the Camp Nou next season and the England international is the one chosen to cover the right flank. In principle it is a complicated operation given the price of the player and the Blaugrana economy, although the Camp Nou are already assessing the different options to make the operation viable.

Jürgen Klopp turns to Serie A as Bellingham is difficult to sign
With a contract in force until June 2025, Liverpool are charging a minimum of €80m for his release, an amount that they will try to reduce by bringing a player into the equation. Alexander-Arnold's chances of featuring in the Qatar showpiece at the end of November look increasingly slim after the Liverpool right-back failed to make manager Gareth Southgate's 23-man squad for their Nations League clash against Germany, but while the chances are slim for the Briton, he still has plenty of time to prove with the Reds in both the Premier League and Champions League that he is capable of catapulting him to Asian soil.
During the 2022-2023 season, Trent Alexander-Arnold has played a total of nine games for Liverpool in the Premier League, Cup and Champions League, scoring a total of two goals, equalling his record of the last two years. In this beginning of the season his performance has not been the best, but he is still one of the stars of the team coached by the German Jürgen Klopp.
The only problem for the young Briton today is in the production of assists as he has not yet got one on his tally. This defender will probably benefit in his level once the Anfield midfield stabilises and starts to deliver a better performance than the one he has shown so far. Should he make the step up to Barcelona, he would also become one of the Spanish team's star players and one of the few Englishmen to have played there.
