Liverpool, the club to which the Colombian Luis Diaz belongs, has not had its best days. Recently, in the Champions League, the Reds suffered a heavy defeat (4-1) against Napoli, from Italy, in what was their debut in the competition for the current edition; while in the English Premier League, those led by Jurgen Klopp have only managed to get nine points out of a possible 18 and are seventh in the standings.
It has not been the start Liverpool had planned; however, it is worth noting that the talented Diaz has managed to stand out with his football and contribution on the pitch. Despite this, it seems that the ability of 'Luchito' would not be enough and the Italian press pointed out that the Reds would be after one of the 'jewels' of AC Milan, Italy, as they would like to fill the void of Sadio Mané, who was a reference of the team and, for the current season, decided to leave for Bayern Munich in Germany.
Will Liverpool's Champions League game against Ajax be suspended?
The favour Real Madrid would do Liverpool in the transfer window
The Portuguese winger Rafael Leão, who has become the hero of his team. This was demonstrated last weekend, when he scored a brace in the 'derby della Madonnina' against Inter Milan to give his team the victory. According to reports, since last May "Liverpool are one of the teams interested in Leao", and, they added, "he fits the profile of the type of player the Reds are targeting".
According to Statsbomb (a company that specialises in sports data), Leao registered one of the highest number of dribbles into the opposition box last season (2021/2022), placing him behind Mohamed Salah and on a par with Luis Diaz. As such, Liverpool would see Leao as having similar playing characteristics to the Colombian and the Egyptian, and would be looking to entice the Milan player to join the Reds.
At the moment, Diaz knows that his club is not going through a good moment at all, understanding that the best thing for his teammates and for him will be to concentrate on the next matches they will have in the different competitions in which they are involved, being their next opponent this Tuesday's matchday 2 of the Champions League group stage against Ajax at Anfield.
