Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp scoffed at a suggestion by Chelsea's new American owner to introduce an All-Star Game in the English Premier League between top players from north and south. Speaking at the SALT conference in New York on Tuesday, Todd Boehly said he hoped the Premier League would take "a little lesson from American sports" and hold an All-Star Game that would raise money for clubs at the bottom of the English football pyramid.

Todd Boehly's controversial statements a couple of days ago continue to reverberate around world football. The Chelsea owner said that the Premier League should have an All-Star Game, just like MLS and MLB in the United States. Klopp's claim was joined by Frenchman Thierry Henry, who agreed with the German coach.

However, his suggestion has not gone down well in the English football environment, since leaders such as Jürgen Klopp responded negatively to this position and made it clear that they do not support the initiative. Now, it was Thierry Henry who added his voice to the criticism of the American businessman.

"What is that supposed to mean? What are you trying to teach? What are you trying to teach us? What are you doing to teach us? I don't like (Boehly's idea) because this is Europe and it doesn't work like that. A team goes up and down. An All-Star, for what?! No, no. Maybe (the public will like it). But you asked me, and it's a no," he told CBS Sports.

Henry knows American sports

During his time in Major League Soccer with the New York Red Bulls, Thierry Henry participated in the MLS All-Star Game, so he personally experienced what the league brings to the fans every year. However, the former French striker is also familiar with the way English football works, which is why he dismissed such initiatives as Boehly's as a complete waste of time.
