Liverpool is sweating on the fitness of star man Mohamed Salah after he picked up what appeared to be a hamstring injury during Egypt's second game at AFCON against Ghana. The match finished 2-2 but Salah came off before half-time. The Liverpool forward went down and was unable to continue, though he did watch the second half from the sidelines. Salah looked upset as he left the field but was later spotted smiling in the mixed zone post-match.
It is clear, Jürgen Klopp knows the importance of the winter transfer market
While Salah did not stop to give reporters an update, he was filmed walking through the stadium with a smile on his face. The 31-year-old did not appear to be in any discomfort but Egypt's next match is on Monday and he surely faces a race against time to be involved in that one.
"We don’t know yet what the problem is," Egypt boss Rui Vitória said at full-time. "I hope it’s not a big problem. It was difficult timing for us because in the second half, we could only make two substitutions. I think it’s not dangerous but let’s see."
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp will no doubt be asked about the injury that Salah picked up during his press conference but the Reds' number 11 was always going to be likely to be missing at least until the end of the month. The Anfield side plays Bournemouth on Sunday before later facing Fulham in the Carabao Cup, Norwich in the FA Cup, and Chelsea in the Premier League.
A special price, a wink from Mbappé with LeBron to Liverpool for the summer
Salah is likelier to be back at some point in February whether he is injured or not. The Liverpool ace does have a good record when it comes to returning from injuries quickly, though he doesn't often pick up issues in the first place. If Egypt progresses from the group stages and goes all the way to the final, Salah could be absent until mid-February even if he is fit again.
