Wataru Endo praises Alexis Mac Allister and his role at Liverpool

Admiration for Alexis Mac Allister

Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo, who joined Liverpool from Stuttgart in 2023, has had fewer minutes this season under the management of Arne Slot compared to his debut campaign in England with Jürgen Klopp. Despite this, Endo has expressed his satisfaction with his role in the team and his admiration for one of his teammates.

In his Red Machine podcast, Endo spoke about how much he enjoys playing alongside Alexis Mac Allister, highlighting his qualities:

  • "He’s an incredible player. He can do everything on the field, not just offensively, but he also defends well, to be honest. Last season, he also played as a number six, and I think he did very well. He has a good shot, great passing, and he’s a fighter. I’m really happy to play with him."

His role at Liverpool and positive attitude

So far, Endo has played 460 minutes under Slot, compared to the nearly 3,000 minutes he accumulated last season. While his participation has mainly been in the domestic cups, the Japan captain remains positive:

  • "I don’t get frustrated [for not playing]. I always try to be ready for the team, to help. Of course, I want to play every match, but we need everyone. What I can do is prepare myself for every match [in case I get minutes]."

Commitment and professionalism

The midfielder's attitude reflects his professionalism and commitment to the team, as he continues to make the most of every opportunity to contribute to Liverpool's success.
