Liverpool continue to show hierarchy and supremacy in English football. On Wednesday, 10 January, Jürgen Klopp's side came from behind in a difficult match against Fulham, and came close to qualifying for the first final of the 2023/2024 season.

The Reds struggled at Anfield as Klopp decided to field a number of players who are usually substitutes, and to strengthen with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz. In addition, Fulham took the lead to complicate things: the Brazilian Willian scored the 0-1 for the London team, after 19 minutes of play.

After 56', two changes improved Liverpool: Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo came on to attack with more impetus; and so Liverpool were able to come back in the League Cup game. On 68 minutes, Curtis Jones' shot deflected off an opposition player to make it 1-1. And in the 71st minute, Nunez cut in from the left, crossed for Gakpo to make it 2-1 and move Liverpool closer to the final.

David Coote's mistake

It was in the 66th minute when Liverpool were still behind when there was a clear handball inside the box that was not flagged by referee David Coote which provoked Jurgen Klopp's fury from the dugout. There have already been a number of refereeing lapses that have gone against the Reds this season.
