Mohamed Salah is not the only star who has practically decided he wants to leave Liverpool. Another player who is also contemplating his departure is Darwin Núñez. However, in his case, it's not because he's seeking a new challenge after many years, but because he has a really cold relationship with manager Arne Slot, who he cannot stand. This is due to the lack of trust and continuity he's been given.
Núñez was a regular starter under Jürgen Klopp, who always defended him despite constant criticism. However, since Slot’s arrival, the Uruguayan has had to settle for playing in minor matches and being a mere substitute, behind Luís Díaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota in the rotation. This lack of prominence has caused him to lose patience, especially considering he arrived at Anfield as the club’s most expensive signing, costing €85 million, coming from Benfica.
The forward has started exploring his future options and has offered his services to several clubs, including FC Barcelona, who are still looking for a new striker as Robert Lewandowski is 36 years old and his contract expires in June. Joan Laporta and Deco have been evaluating possible signings like Viktor Gyökeres, Alexander Isak, or Erling Haaland, and Darwin has made it known that he would be willing to take a pay cut to join Barça.
Despite the offer, the option of Núñez does not fully convince manager Hans-Dieter Flick, who is not entirely seduced by the idea of signing him. Nevertheless, Núñez’s future remains uncertain as he waits for a resolution regarding his situation at Liverpool.
