Moisés Caicedo, a 22-year-old midfielder, has been told that he should have signed for Arsenal or Liverpool instead of Chelsea. The Reds had agreed a £110m deal with Brighton to sign Caicedo in the summer, but he decided to join the Stamford Bridge side. As a result, Liverpool's transfer fell through and Chelsea pounced on him.

Chelsea agreed a British record £115m deal with Brighton and Caicedo signed an eight-year contract. He has played 17 times for the Blues in the Premier League this season, where he has failed to significantly improve his performances or results from last year.

While Chelsea fight for a place in the top half of the table, Arsenal and Liverpool fight for top spot. Speaking to ESPN, Craig Burley said Caicedo made a mistake by joining Chelsea after his rapid rise to fame at Brighton. In December, Jürgen Klopp spoke about his failed attempt to sign Caicedo.

During a question and answer session with Liverpool fans at Anfield, he said: "In the summer we had some strange things happened in the transfer market, but between us I can say: 'My God, we were lucky.' We didn't know it. ". At the time, to be honest, we didn't realize it at the time. But I'm very happy that it worked out that way. You never know if it will work that way.

Caicedo's closing comments

"I had a very good feeling going into pre-season, we already had Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai] and then we knew there was an opportunity for Ryan Gravenberch. Then obviously we realized there was other possibilities. The central defensive midfielders don't want to join Liverpool. Yeah, you see what happens. And then we found [Wataru] Endō. He's an exceptional player, he is, absolutely.
