The Colombian is said to be on the way out and would be tempted with a millionaire salary.

Rumours of Luis Díaz leaving Liverpool have been rife in recent days, after it was revealed that the club would have intentions to sell him in the next transfer window. The Guajiro would no longer be part of Arne Slot's project.

Lucho, who has not scored a goal for Liverpool in nine games, was one of the main targets after the club's elimination against Plymouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup and speculation began about an exit.

Chelsea want Luis Diaz

According to Anfield Watch, Luis Díaz's days are numbered at Liverpool, who are considering selling him. The English media outlet reported on Wednesday that a team from the 'big six' is after the 28-year-old from La Guajira.

“According to the report, Liverpool are reportedly willing to sell Diaz as they do not want his contract to run out. The Colombian is still on his initial contract with the Reds, having never received the pay rise usually offered to top performers. This justifies why Diaz would want to leave, no doubt, and shows that Liverpool are not totally enamoured of the striker,” the outlet said.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to sell Diaz as they do not want his contract to expire. The Colombian is still on his initial contract with the Reds, having never received a pay rise.

According to the aforementioned media, Chelsea would be a serious candidate to acquire the services of the Colombian who has a contract until June 2027, as the board is looking for an experienced player to occupy a position that has generated problems.

Millionaire salary to convince Lucho

“Chelsea are hoping to convince the striker to sign for them by making him their highest-paid player. There is also interest from other teams, but Chelsea’s poor form means they are looking for a player in his prime,” he said.

“Diaz could be the right man to revitalise their squad, it’s interesting. Diaz is now 28 and is older than the players Chelsea have signed under their new management. Their whole business model has been to buy the brightest young talents, tie them down to incredibly long contracts and watch their value rise. However, the value has only risen for a few of those players.”

Anfield Watch also revealed that Luis Díaz has rejected an initial offer to renew his contract with Liverpool and is not convinced to extend his contract and increase his salary as a world star.

If you wait another year, that value will drop dramatically as you prepare to enter your senior year.

“While there have been further contract discussions this season, Diaz has reportedly rejected Liverpool’s offer. It wasn’t high enough and the Reds clearly don’t see Diaz as one of their elite players,” Anfield Watch said.

“A sale therefore makes sense. Diaz’s contract expires in 2027 and Liverpool could sell him this summer for the full price. If he waits another year, that value will fall dramatically as he prepares to enter his final year,” he concluded.
