Mo Salah Rejects Liverpool's Contract Offer Amid Uncertainty Over Future

As things stand, Mohamed Salah looks set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. His current contract, signed in 2022, is set to expire, and the Reds have yet to agree on a new deal with their star player. The previous renewal was far from straightforward, with Liverpool hesitating to commit a massive sum (around £350k per week) to a player who was 30 years old at the time.

Now 32, Salah is likely looking for a similar contract, but Liverpool's hesitation has turned into reluctance, prompting the Egyptian forward to publicly admit that no offer had been made by the club as of December.

However, his form this season essentially forces Liverpool's hand. Salah is currently one of the best players in the world, with extraordinary numbers of goals and assists, leading the club to the top of both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

It seems that Liverpool recognised they needed to make an offer to keep him.

Salah Rejects Liverpool’s Offer

In an exclusive report, Masrawy reveals that Mohamed Salah has turned down a new contract offer from Liverpool. This offer, however, represents a reduction in his current terms.

Essentially, Liverpool wants Salah to lower his salary in exchange for a two- or three-year extension. It’s likely that the greater the pay cut, the longer the deal will be.

This offer is bound to be controversial, as it asks the club's star player to take a pay cut despite having a stellar season.

However, Salah has refused. It’s presumed that he doesn’t want to accept a pay reduction.

The hope now is that Salah doesn't want to accept such a salary cut. It seems incredibly unlikely that Liverpool will renew his contract under the current terms, so finding a middle ground remains the only realistic way forward.

There is still time to reach an agreement. It doesn’t seem likely that Salah will sign with anyone else before the end of the season, leaving Liverpool a couple of months to continue negotiations.

However, the longer this drags on, the more likely Salah's departure becomes. Fingers crossed that a compromise can be reached before it’s too late.
