The 2024-2025 European football season is approaching its final stretch, with domestic tournaments set to crown their champions in the coming weeks, while continental competitions are also reaching their climax.
He, Liverpool the English team where Colombian winger Luis Díaz plays, are currently enjoying a successful campaign, competing for three titles, with the Guajiro playing a key role in recent matches.
With his goals this season, totalling 25 since his arrival, Díaz is closer to joining the ranks of Colombia's top scorers in the Premier League: Juan Pablo Ángel (44), Hamilton Ricard (31) and Hugo Rodallega (29).
Speaking recently to the club's communications team, Lucho spoke about this achievement and the upcoming end of the season. "From time to time, I come across the statistics when people post them on social media. But it's great to be around such illustrious Colombian players like Hugo and the others. It's a real pleasure for me to be there, right behind them, and I realise that I can catch up with them at some point," he commented on his goals in England.
He added: "You could say that this is one of those personal goals that I have. I know that things are going well for me and I am in good form." The Liverpool and Colombia winger expressed his desire to continue making history and stressed the importance of Colombian players leaving their mark in England. "What I want most is to ensure that the Colombians who come to play in England leave a positive image of our country, just as they did. Those of us who are here are trying to do that. I am very happy with this and I hope that we can continue to do so in the future."
Diaz shared his dreams of winning the league, pointing out his proximity to achieving this goal. "We all know how difficult it is to win the league title." Premier League "It's clear that every year it becomes more and more challenging. Even though City have won it multiple times, it's still difficult to achieve. But we're working hard, training well and creating a great group of players, a big family, so to speak. It's a very humble group that wants to move forward and look to the future," Lucho said.
He also spoke about his new manager this season, Dutchman Arne Slot, who has navigated his first year at Anfield effectively. "Our manager has adapted very well to the club. He has managed the group and each player exceptionally well, as it must not be easy for any manager to have two or three top-class alternatives for each position on the pitch to make decisions about who plays and who doesn't," explained Diaz.
In conclusion, he said: "It's not an easy task, but he has risen to the occasion and has given confidence to all the players in his squad. He has implemented some very important tactical elements for us, he is excellent in that sense and he says when he feels that correction is necessary. That's basically the situation. He is managing the group very well."
