Liverpool 's season is one of the most profitable in its history; they only spent money in August to buy Mamardashvili - who will only arrive at the end of the season - and Chiesa . In January they still didn't spend a penny and the team is top of the Premier League , in the Carabao Cup final and waiting for an opponent for the Champions League last 16 .

And now the Reds are already starting to think about the 2025/26 season, in which a significant investment will come to renew the squad. According to British media, one of Arne Slot 's first intentions is to give Alexis Mac Allister a new partner in the midfield , and they have found the perfect candidate in Barcelona .

The target is Frenkie De Jong , or at least that's what Caught Offside understands , who claim that Liverpool could get one of the captains of the Blaugrana team for a modest sum of 35 million . And yes, initially it doesn't seem "modest", but if we consider that Barcelona paid 75 million for him in 2019 and that his current market value is around 50 million, things change.

De Jong is under contract with Barcelona until the end of next season , so if he is not sold in June, the Catalan club risks losing him on a free transfer after the year. In addition, it has been reported that the Dutchman has rejected multiple renewal offers in recent months .

Liverpool's best signings were the players who exploded with Slot

The departure of Jürgen Klopp and the arrival of Arne Slot have given many players the chance to show their true worth and bring out their best in this new Liverpool. And while Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk remain the main players, other names have stepped up.

Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo are some of the names that have improved the most this past season, in which players from the youth academy have also emerged, such as Conor Bradley , who surprised even Thierry Henry himself .

That's why Liverpool haven't needed to reinforce themselves with new players this season, but it wouldn't hurt Slot to have some additional options to face the next campaign.
