Liverpool coach pointed out what he wants to talk about with Darwin Núñez

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has said what he wants to discuss with Darwin Núñez , the Uruguayan striker who was unable to take advantage of a clear goal-scoring chance against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Wednesday .

The Reds visited the Villains on Matchday 29 and started off winning with a goal from Mohamed Salah (29'); however, the home team turned the score around with goals from Youri Tielemans (38') and Ollie Watkins (45+3').

Trent Alexander-Arnold made it 2-2 in the 61st minute, and the Uruguayan Núñez had the chance to score the 3-2 in the 69th minute, but he failed to do so after Szoboszlai's pass.

In a press conference, and as transcribed by the Express newspaper , Slot said: “I can accept every mistake, especially from a player who scored two very important goals against Brentford. I would prefer him to score, but the word 'opportunity' says it all.”

“ I can accept that, but the hardest thing was his behaviour after that opportunity ; he had too many things in his head and he was not the typical Darwin who works hard ,” said the coach.

The Dutch manager added: “Darwin was very disappointed, but that has to be for a moment. It is always better to have for example Endo’s mentality, he keeps going and is always ready, not many can do this. It is not about the opportunity, but about the 20 minutes afterwards that I want to talk to Darwin about .”

Regarding the play, Slot said: “What I saw was an incredible pass from Conor Bradley and what a powerful run from Dominik Szoboszlai, who made, in my opinion, the perfect decision to pass the ball, since from a one-on-one with the goalkeeper he turned the play into an open goal-scoring opportunity.”

“Darwin didn’t have the best chance because he’s right-footed (the Uruguayan had to finish with his left foot against the effort of defender Axel Disasi, Aston Villa’s number 3), but it was still a great opportunity. We’re all disappointed, but it’s normal that a player who misses an opportunity like that is always a little more disappointed than the rest,” said the coach.
