Luis Enrique says Paris Saint-Germain is still waiting for an update from Kylian Mbappé over his future, with his contract expiring in a matter of months. The French superstar is yet to sign an extension with PSG and as things stand, will be a free agent in the summer. Real Madrid has been a long-term admirer of Mbappé and failed to sign him a year ago although Liverpool continues to monitor the situation, according to Le Parisien. The Reds made a move for the 25-year-old while he was at Monaco and supposedly remain interested in his services.

No joke, Guardiola could replace Klopp at Liverpool, revelations suggest

Spanish publication AS reported earlier this week that Mbappé is set to make his decision 'imminently' and that could become public later this month. But Enrique insists he is none the wiser about his star man's plans beyond this season.

He appeared increasingly agitated when he asked in his press conference on Thursday, the final day of the transfer window, if Mbappé had informed him of his decision. Enrique then added: "No, Kylian didn’t tell me anything so far."

The striker has been in lethal form this season, scoring 28 times in just 27 matches for PSG already six points clear at the top of Ligue 1. Despite likely being available on a free transfer, any deal for Mbappé is likely to come at a cost in terms of wages and signing-on fee.

PGMOL decisions claimed to be another cause of Klopp's departure

Liverpool can give you what you are looking for

The Telegraph reported last month that he is looking for an increase in his PSG wages at his next club and expects a salary of around £64.5m after tax. That would come out at a cool £1.2m a week and would mean Liverpool completely tearing up its wage structure. He has previously spoken out on links to Liverpool, telling The Telegraph in 2022: "We talked a little bit, but not too much. I talked to Liverpool because it's the favorite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don't know why, you will have to ask her. It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club."
