The future of Federico Chiesa at Liverpool is becoming increasingly uncertain as the Italian Serie A clubs, Bologna and Napoli, express keen interest in acquiring the talented winger. Chiesa, the son of Italian football legend Enrico Chiesa, has found his playing time limited at Anfield since his move from Juventus in 2024.
Having arrived at Liverpool with high expectations, Chiesa has struggled to cement his place in the starting XI under manager Arne Slot. Despite showcasing glimpses of his immense potential, the Italian international has found himself on the periphery of the first team. This has led to speculation about a potential departure, with both Bologna and Napoli emerging as strong suitors.
Bologna, in particular, are keen on bringing Chiesa back to Italy on loan. The club believes that a move to Bologna could reignite Chiesa's career and provide him with the regular first-team football he needs to rediscover his best form. The Emilia-Romagna based club has a history of developing young talent and has a reputation for playing attractive, attacking football.
Napoli, on the other hand, are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the Champions League campaign. The Partenopei are in the market for a versatile attacker who can play on either wing and Chiesa fits the profile perfectly. Napoli's manager, Rudi Garcia, is a big admirer of the Italian and believes that he can be a key player for his team.
However, Liverpool are reluctant to let Chiesa leave on loan. The Reds see the Italian as a long-term project and believe that he has the potential to become a world-class player. Manager Arne Slot is particularly impressed with Chiesa's technical ability and his work rate.
The decision of whether or not to let Chiesa leave on loan will be a difficult one for Liverpool. On the one hand, the club wants to give the young winger the opportunity to develop and reach his full potential. On the other hand, Liverpool are also under pressure to deliver results and cannot afford to have players in their squad who are not fully committed to the cause.
