In the middle of the game against Fulham, the new player to be added to solve the injury problems was revealed

It was a tough first half for Liverpool in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final at Anfield on Wednesday, with Fulham taking the lead through a goal from Brazilian Willian in the 19th minute after capitalising on defensive errors from captain Virgil Van Dijk.

German coach Jürgen Klopp made several changes to his line-up in an attempt to protect important players for the next few Premier League matches, and so did not start Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, as well as sending on youngster Connor Bradley to make up for the absence of vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, it wasn't all bad news for Liverpool as during the course of the game information emerged about the arrival of a new player in the winter transfer window who will help fill in for the injured and players on international duty such as Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo.

Calvin Ramsay returns

German coach Jurgen Klopp has called for the return of Scottish defender Calvin Ramsay from Preston North End, where he has played virtually no part after suffering a major injury. His return will help cover Alexander Arnold's absence.
