Xabi Alonso is reportedly hesitating to sign for Liverpool

Al-Ittihad are persisting in their bid to acquire the services of the talented Mohamed Salah, according to reports in the English press. Despite the failure of their previous attempt last summer, the Arab club are planning to return in the next transfer window with an unprecedented €235m bid for Liverpool.

Should this bid materialise, it would set a new record in world football, surpassing the astronomical €222m PSG shelled out for Neymar in 2017. Mohamed Salah, the prolific 31-year-old Egyptian striker, is currently recovering from an injury sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations, which has not dampened Al-Ittihad's interest in acquiring his services.

In addition to the substantial fee offered to Liverpool, according to 'The Athletic', the contract offered to the player would amount to 85 million euros net, quadrupling his current salary in the Premier League. Although Liverpool rejected a €175m bid for Salah last summer, the situation could change as the time remaining on his contract is reduced, which could make the English club reconsider their position.

Xabi's decision will affect

In the last few hours it has been reported that Xabi Alonso is reportedly hesitating to sign for Liverpool with a view to playing in the Champions League next year with Bayer Leverkusen. This would mean that Salah could accept the offer from Arabia for him.
