Liverpool got back to winning ways with a victory over Burnley on Saturday but there were also wins for title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal. There is a fierce title warning from the Emirates from third-placed Arsenal, while a member of Jürgen Klopp's squad made the most of a rare weekend off alongside a former Barcelona star.
Deal of the year,16 million for one of the Premier League's best players
Martin Ødegaard insists Arsenal will continue to focus on its own results in the Premier League title race. The Gunners put six past West Ham on Sunday to close the gap to two points, after victories for Liverpool and Manchester City on Saturday.
Arsenal has now won its last four league matches and skipper Ødegaard told Sky Sports: "We are focusing on ourselves and what we do every day. We do not care too much about the other teams, we focus on ourselves and we keep working hard. It was a good win and we move on."
The result keeps Arsenal in third in the Premier League table and comes on the back of last weekend's victory over Liverpool at the Emirates. The Norwegian added: "It was a brilliant performance. From start to end we dominated and controlled everything. "We were really sharp in front of goal. I'm proud of the team. Coming from a big game [against Liverpool] and a big win and backing it up with a great performance."
First signing of the post-Klopp era is close to signing, zero cost
Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté was back in France over the weekend as he missed Liverpool's win over Burnley through suspension. The defender was banned after being sent off in the defeat to Arsenal. But instead of taking in a football match, Konaté was courtside to watch Paris Saint Germain's basketball team in action, reports ParisBasketball on Twitter/X. The France star was joined by international teammates Ousmane Dembélé and Randal Kolo Muani, who both play their club football in Paris.
