After Jürgen Klopp's devastating announcement that he will leave Anfield at the end of the season, which raises a lot of questions as to whether anyone will be able to replace him, the biggest question at the moment is why he made the sudden decision to leave. So this already seems to have an excellent answer that many will not like.

Following Klopp's statement, former Reds star Jamie Carragher made it clear in a publication in The Telegraph that he was very surprised by this and gave a brief explanation of what could have been the reason for Klopp's decision.

After eight years at the helm of Liverpool Jürgen Klopp made it clear that he is one of the best managers in Reds history, yet the 2022-2023 season seems to have sapped the energy of the German manager, who really endured the worst season of perhaps his entire career, marking Klopp like nothing before, as Carragher wrote: "It must have drained his energy to the point where he can feel the tank running dry."

Which no doubt could be a big reason, as Klopp as Jamie describes, is a normal human being, with feelings and he gets exhausted. Jamie Carragher describes this as a difficult time, as he wrote: "It's hard to shake off the idea that those 12 unhappy months have brought us to this point". So Klopp would bring to an end a successful spell on Merseyside and leave a legacy second to none.

Top three in Reds' history, and Carragher confirms it

In his published note, Carragher puts Jürgen Klopp alongside Bill Shankly, who in the 1960s and 1970s gave the Reds an era of glory in England and Europe, and Sir Kenny Dalglish, who gave another successful era in the late 1980s and part of the 1990s. Klopp has undoubtedly earned a recognised place alongside these three, with whom he shared a glorious period with the Reds, and who were also excellent people, quickly winning the affection of the fans.
