Salah has not put an end to his adventure in the Africa Cup of Nations

Salah has not put an end to his adventure in the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt. Although he was injured in the second match of the tournament against Ghana, he could return to the national team jersey if he recovers in time. The Liverpool star called for a substitution against Ghana when the score was still unchanged. And a day later, the Egyptian Football Federation announced what no one wanted to hear: Salah would not be able to help the team in the final group game against surprise package Cape Verde, nor in a hypothetical round of 16.

Can Salah play in the Carabao Cup final? The answer that worries Klopp

The medical statement said he suffered a biceps femoris strain, but the recovery time was far from clear. It was therefore decided that the best course of action was for the Egyptian to return to Liverpool to undergo the recovery process. Pepijn Lijnders, Liverpool's assistant manager, has assured that the striker is expected to return to action in three to four weeks, provided his recovery does not suffer any setbacks. And the Africa Cup final is next February 2.

"Egypt and Liverpool have the same interest, we want Mo Salah to be ready as soon as possible," Jürgen Klopp told beIN SPORTS microphones after his side reached the EFL Cup final after beating Fulham. "If he stays in Africa and they can't give him the right treatment, everything will be delayed, especially for Egypt if he goes through the tournament, he added.

Salah's return date

And he justified his decision to bring Salah back to Liverpool: "We are bringing him here not because we want to take him out of Egypt but simply to offer him the best medical treatment. It's all agreed. If Salah is fit and Egypt go through to the final, it was always clear that he will be back at 100 per cent. Mo wants that, we want that. So his return to the field would be on 11 February.
