Liverpool's standards are kept very high, as Jürgen Klopp is a coach who likes to be serious, so his team works hard and without unnecessary distractions. So in addition to the high level of demand the team needs players who can be very resistant to injury in the face of the kind of demanding schedule the Reds have.

That is why the contract renewal of some players has not been seen and there might not be any renewal, as it is the case of defender Joel Matip, who ends his contract with the Reds in the summer and there is no reason to give any extension to the player, because although the level he had shown is quite good, injuries have always been a problem. The Cameroonian is already looking for some alternatives given the null probability of a renewal and it seems that the best option at the moment could be the Middle East, where Steven Gerrard and Al-Ettifaq would be very interested in his services. Matip could already be thinking about his next destination.

Matip, 32, has been a regular for the Reds this season, clocking up 1,060 minutes in 14 games, but his injury has put a stop to his form and he is unlikely to play for the Reds again, with his contract expiring at the end of the season and he is set to be released to Arabia.

The new reason why Matip is no longer in the Reds' plans

Injuries are undoubtedly the main problem for Joel Matip, who already has one foot out of Anfield, however, this season the youthful Jarrell Quansah has played very well, giving great security in the defensive area of the team. So Quansah is another reason why Matip no longer has a place at Liverpool, where they are also looking to reinforce with another central defender.
