Liverpool won 3-0 away to Ajax on Wednesday, a result that sent the Reds through to the last 16 of the Champions League and eliminated the Dutch side in the fifth round of the group stage. Mohamed Salah (42) opened the scoring in the final minutes of the first half and Darwin Nunez (49) and Harvey Elliott (52) sealed the game just after the restart.
With this result, Liverpool are second in Group A with 12 points, three behind leaders Napoli who, with a clean sheet, lead Group A with 15 points. The Italian side must visit Anfield on the sixth and final matchday, in a top-of-the-table clash in which they have the advantage after beating Liverpool 4-1 in the first leg.

Jürgen Klopp's reaction to Henderson injury against Ajax
Liverpool needed just a point to reach the last 16 of the Champions League. But the European runners-up, who want to compete with Napoli for the top spot right to the end, also wanted to avenge the first matchday defeat. That's why they were looking for a win tonight when they visited Ajax Amsterdam. And they were rewarded in the 42nd minute when Mohamed Salah scored to break the deadlock. They could have doubled their lead but a glaring mistake prevented them from doing so.
In the second half, the Reds quickly got back on track. A header from Darwin Núñez in the 49th minute and another from Harvey Elliot in the 51st minute put the game beyond doubt. For an Anfield side that will be boosted by this win and that keeps alive their hopes of finishing top of the group.
Journalist James Pearce praised the work of the rookie midfielder and singled him out as the best player of the match ahead of Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson: "Harvey Elliott is growing in stature with every passing week. And the best thing about it is you can see how much it means to him. He's living the dream."
