At the beginning of October, all of Colombia and Liverpool fans were alarmed by the injury suffered by winger Luis Diaz in the Premier League game against Arsenal. At home to the Gunners, and after providing an assist, the Colombian was performing at the highest level; however, midway through the first half, a cross with an opponent in the centre circle of the pitch left Diaz down and showing signs of severe pain in one of his knees.
After this, they were quite sad at his club and the Colombian national team could only wish him the best wishes, to which the player responded on his social networks saying that he was going to come back better than before. Accepting his new reality, Luis Diaz began the first therapies for his recovery; Liverpool, rather hermetic, did not tell details of what was happening with the Colombian and it was only until a few weeks ago that he was seen at Anfield accompanying his teammates.
Watch out Klopp, here's the list of players Liverpool could sign for free in winter
Darwin Núnez made a fool of himself on his Liverpool debut; Salah had to calm him down
On that occasion he was with an element attached to the leg where he suffered the injury, with some difficulty walking, he was seen smiling and in good spirits, so much so that he was hugged tightly by James Milner, Darwin Núñez and even his coach, Jürgen Klopp. From there, nothing more was heard from the Colombian until hours before Wednesday's Champions League game against Ajax, when fans of the English team saw him in the streets of Liverpool. The young and old alike were thrilled to see him, asking for photos and autographs.
As well as some autographs for the memory; he, as simple as ever, reciprocated the affection, taking time out of his personal schedule to share with them. Now, while the player is recovering from his knee injury, his team is not going through its best moment and this was even more evident last Sunday, when they lost by the minimum difference with one of the bottom teams of the championship.
For John Aldridge, the team's slump is due to the physical absences of key players; he believes that if the team had been able to count on them, the outlook would have been different. "Nottingham Forest played well and deserved to win. But if Luis Diaz is on the wing and Diogo Jota or Darwin Nunez are with Roberto Firmino, the result would be different. It will be frustrating for Klopp to have those players out," he said. It is worth remembering that at the start of the season Luis Diaz has been a key player in Klopp's scheme; he even saved his side from several defeats, something that would have had the team at the bottom of the table.
