Jürgen Klopp was happy with the defensive changes he implemented and the result it gave Liverpool in their UEFA Champions League clash with Rangers. The manager also made mention of Darwin Nunez and Trent Alexader-Arnold and their respective performances.

"We had a very good defensive performance in a new structure. Offensively, we created a lot. The Rangers goalie made a couple of really good saves and we missed a few others, but I was very pleased. The two goals we scored were really nice. One is a penalty, but the play of Lucho (Diaz) was very good and Trent's free kick was outstanding, "he said about the game.

In addition, the German coach gave details of the changes they made in defence. "We wanted to defend differently to what we usually do. It was a surprise for them because of how we prepared and it was part of the idea, but we really had to change in defence to occupy the right spaces," said Klopp, who deployed a double pivot and three strikers behind Darwin Nunez.

The Charrúa striker's performance was also part of the coach's analysis and he said: "To be honest, the way the lads moved together in attack today was extremely good for a single session working on that. So, you can see how good a striker he is to have so many situations. I think everyone saw tonight that, this way, the goals are going to come."

Finally, he also detailed the performance of his right-back and added: "He had a good game, especially defensively, and also a wonderful goal. We can't talk about that every week, but Trent doesn't have a defensive problem, the team had a defensive problem."

Klopp backed Darwin Núnez

"We took risks that created spaces and those spaces were created behind him, but not because of him, but because of what we were asking of our right-back," the coach concluded regarding previous questioning of Alexander-Arnold.
