If Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League, these are the two clubs who want Salah

Rabah Madjer, who won the European Cup with Porto and played for Valencia, is still regarded as the greatest player to come out of Algerian football. Madjer, 65, gave an interview to Al Ain Sports in which, among other things, he assessed the future of Egypt's Mohamed Salah, who is not certain to remain at Liverpool next season.

"Salah is a wonderful player and the pride of all Arabs. Liverpool is a very big team and helped him to exploit his talent, which is what Chelsea couldn't do before. Renewing his contract would be a beautiful recognition of what he achieved at Anfield, but personally I hope to see the Pharaohs star in the shirt of one of the giants of Spanish football, Barcelona or Real Madrid. It would give his career a new lease of life," said Madjer bluntly.

The former striker also gave his thoughts on his favourites to win the Champions League this year: "The competition will be tremendous. I think Manchester City are stronger, I think, because they have a great coach and a lot of quality in attack. But Real Madrid have the longest tradition in the competition and cannot go unnoticed. They have an experienced coach and a wonderful squad.

Barcelona or Real Madrid

Last year, Madjer was sentenced by his country's judiciary to a six-month prison term and a fine of 100,000 dinars (€636) on charges of falsifying accounts as co-owner and editor of two Algerian newspapers between 2016 and 2019, Al Balagh (The Message) and Al Balagh Erriadhi (The Sports Message). The star was also unlucky as Algeria's coach, a position he held for just six months after replacing Spaniard Lucas Alcaraz.
