He has played very little this year, but in the Champions League he was able to shine as he had not done for a long time

A win in the third UEFA Champions League fixture is exactly the response Jurgen Klopp was hoping for from his side after they were on display on their return to Premier League action last weekend when they drew 3-3 against Brighton.  The standout on this occasion against the Scots was a great team effort that was orchestrated by a midfielder who was not given full credit for his great work.

Although concerns remain about whether this was just another mirage of a Liverpool side capable of taking on any opposition, the 90 minutes at Anfield again showed the individual and collective consistency that led the team to an important win in European competition, with Jordan Henderson the mastermind who made his team-mates look good.

He turned his back on England and now Liverpool want to sign this player

Liverpool v Rangers was at risk of being called off for this incredible reason

The England international recorded the highest passing percentage with 94%, making two key passes to the opposition goal of which the one to Darwin Nunez in the first half was the clearest, leaving him with full advantage in front of goalkeeper Allan McGregor, the Uruguayan striker missing his attempt, denying Henderson the chance to further boost his stats by denying him the assist.

The numbers of the 32 year old British midfielder speak of the good footballing moment he is going through, being boosted and enhanced his work in the midfield with the help of his teammate Thiago Alcántara, both of them perfectly filling the absence of Fabinho, giving all of Merseyside a great match that culminated with the addition of another three points that puts them in the fight for the ticket to the next stage of the Champions League.

These improvements presented by the team will give a lot to talk about in the days leading up to the match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, as Jurgen Klopp has achieved a great solvency in midfield and in defence, making this institution finally look more solid, only needing to solve the German helmsman the offensive issues that so far have been solved on a couple of occasions by the Brazilian, Roberto Firmino.
