Liverpool struggled but came from behind to beat Wolverhampton 3-1 away in the Premier League

Liverpool struggled but came from behind to beat Wolverhampton 3-1 away in the Premier League 2023-2024 matchday 5 fixture. The Reds took their tally to 13 points and provisionally took the lead in the league. A first-half opener from Pedro Neto had Wolverhampton dreaming, after they disfigured a Liverpool side who turned their fortunes around in the second half with Jürgen Klopp's clever substitutions, and Salah assisted all three goals to increase the pressure on Manchester City at the top.

It swung Wolves' way from the start, with the transition led by Pedro Neto after seven minutes ending in an assist after a bicycle kick and a swift slalom with a cut-back to set up Hwang Hee Chan for the perfect ball to blow the game wide open. It was only the start of his recital. The ball was not lasting for Liverpool. Semedo's surges down the right and Neto's appearances on the left, were constantly shaking the Reds. Just one appearance from Salah, with Diogo Jota's final shot deflected wide, could be interpreted as a release from so much pressure.

Szoboszlai's personality prevailed with the ball, commanding the game and taking control of the match. Liverpool had more of the ball and after 55 minutes they found the equaliser. Salah's first, with a tense cross for Gakpo to slot home. The goal did not change Klopp's mind, who won the game with his changes, immediately sitting the goal scorer. After a mistake by Sá, who rushed a quick break and looked for a counter-attack, hitting an opponent with the ball that fell halfway, it fell to Robertson who began a long run in which he linked up with Salah and, together, they scored a beautifully crafted goal. The Egyptian's pass into space with the outside of his body, the captain's quality finish, changing his body position to score from inside the box.

The celebration

One of the most striking things during the match was Harvey Elliot's effusive celebration of the third goal as he ran into the stands where The Traveling Kop was standing. One of the fans was able to record the moment and it has now gone viral on social media.
