FIFA has brought injuries to several football players

FIFA has brought injuries to several football stars, as Erling Haaland, Norway striker, was absent for the Euro qualifier against Scotland after suffering a sprained ankle during the friendly against the Faroe Islands. This means the Manchester City striker's presence could be in doubt for the Premier League opener against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Matchday 13.

"The injury is not serious, but he is in pain and his functions are somewhat limited, so unfortunately the game against Scotland comes too soon," Norway doctor Olad Sand said. Haaland damaged his left ankle when trying to reach a ball at the far post, as he showed signs of pain when he sat up and had to be treated by the team doctors.

The Norwegian joined Manchester City after the Citizens bought him from Borussia Dortmund, but he has always been linked with Real Madrid. For now, Haaland is enjoying a great moment with Manchester City, as he was a key part of the team winning their first and long-awaited UEFA Champions League against Inter Milan this 2023. However, his agent was spotted in Madrid City, Spain, sparking multiple rumours of the Norwegian's possible move to Spain.

The real reason

Although he seems to have overcome the injury, Haaland's participation in Saturday's game is still in doubt for one simple reason: he has not trained for several days and his physical condition is not the best, something that is not to the liking of Pep Guardiola, who prioritises that his players are in their best shape to be able to develop the game he wants.
