Pochettino and the most painful defeat of his career against Liverpool

Chelsea and Liverpool open their Premier League campaign on Sunday in an awkward fixture for both because of the burden of a debut. Perhaps they would have chosen other opponents to start the season. More so for the Blues, who despite having invested hundreds of millions are coming off the back of a dismal season, in which they finished in twelfth place and will have no international action.

But there is one man for whom it will be a very special game and that is Chelsea's Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino, as it will be his official debut with the London side and against the team that has handed him the most painful defeat of his career.

It was in the Champions League final of the 2019 season which was held at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid, Spain, where Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 to leave Pochettino with no chance of winning the most important club trophy in the world.
