There is no doubt that Fabinho's departure from Anfield left a big hole in the team that, to this day, Jürgen Klopp has not been able to fill, and it is understandable considering that Fabinho became a key part of the German tactician's scheme over the last few years and established himself as a club legend by winning every trophy possible with the Reds during the club's last golden era.
However, this summer Fabinho shocked everyone by asking to leave Anfield to join the list of players who left for the Saudi Pro League. Jürgen Klopp, who had in mind him as an extremely important player, seeing that Fabinho was no longer 100% committed to the Liverpool project decided to allow him to leave, however he did so without having a plan to replace him, which has been very difficult.
A few weeks ago Fluminense's Brazilian midfielder Andre Trindade was linked with a possible move to Anfield. However, Fluminense's participation in the Copa Libertadores has made his arrival at the club impossible at least for now, with the Reds' board said to be back for him in January 2024.
However, there is another Brazilian midfielder who would now be on Liverpool's radar to replace legend Fabinho, but if the club's board really want to sign him they will have to hurry because the transfer window is about to end and there is not much time left.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are reportedly discussing internally the possible arrival of Douglas Luiz, the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder from West Ham who is valued at €40m according to Transfermarkt. For now, it is just a rumour, although considering how close the end of the transfer window is we could see an offer very soon if the board decides to try to sign him.
