Liverpool have everything to change history and win the Community Shield after 16 years

Liverpool FC, led by German coach Jurgen Klopp, have everything to change history and win the Comummity Shield after 16 years, this time against Manchester City, who are coming off the back of last season's Premier League title. With Mohamed Salah, a recharged Darwin Nunez and a renewed, already adapted Luis Diaz, the Reds will be looking for their first title.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, last season's Premier League champions in a thrilling finish, will face Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, reigning FA Cup winners, in the 2022 edition of the Community Shield, English football's super cup that pits the two winners of the country's biggest trophies against each other.

Liverpool vs. Manchester City

This match could see the official debut of Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Kalvin Phillips for Manchester City, and Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho for Liverpool. Manchester City and Liverpool are the last two runners-up in this tournament, which in the last two editions had Arsenal and Leicester City as champions. 

Guardiola and Klopp's men previously met in the final of the 2019 edition and it was the Mancunians who won the title after winning 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. Liverpool have not won the Community Shield since 2006, when they beat Chelsea 2-1.
