Liverpool could steal this player from Everton Luis Diaz-style

Liverpool should consider hijacking Everton's efforts to sign Idrissa Gueye.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye has been heavily linked with Everton this summer, but a move to Goodison Park has fallen through despite the player agreeing to a pay cut. While Everton are still looking to make it happen, Liverpool must seriously consider pulling a Luis Diaz and snatching him. In January, Diaz was close to joining Tottenham until Jürgen Klopp and Julian Ward offered him a place at Kirkby, an invitation the Colombia international gladly accepted.

We're not saying Liverpool should purposely sabotage Everton's attempts to strengthen their squad, but it would be good strategy in the name of Merseyside rivalry, especially with Liverpool's current injury crisis.

PSG could negotiate

It seems Klopp is in desperate need of another midfielder, and if PSG are willing to sack Gueye, and the player himself is Premier League proven, it doesn't take much imagination to see him at Anfield soon. Although the player is 32 years old and outside the profile Klopp, Ward and the Reds' scouting team are looking for.

But Gueye is cheap, available and clearly desperate for something different, evidenced by his willingness to accept more money to join Everton in the first place. Liverpool need a mega midfield signing in the long term, someone like Jude Bellingham, for example. In the short term, Gueye, who has made 134 Premier League appearances, would be perfect.
