Our Liverpool's preseason is officially over and the week of preparation has begun ahead of the match against Chelsea that marks the start of the Premier League for the Reds. Although in theory Jürgen Klopp should already have the starting lineup in mind for the match, there are still some doubts that have arisen for the Liverpool manager after finishing the preseason with a victory over Darmstadt.
Since the summer transfer window began, there has been talk that Liverpool's priority, on the orders of Jürgen Klopp, has been to sign midfielders, and there is no denying that this summer and in previous years we have been losing players who were key to the team's performance and who led us to win every possible trophy during what was the club's most recent golden era.
However, after five pre-season games a new concern has arisen in the mind of Jürgen Klopp, as despite the team winning 3 of those games and only losing one, in total we conceded 11 goals, giving an average of over two goals conceded per game. Poor defense was one of the main reasons why last season we were not able to reach one of the top four places in the Premier League, which resulted in us not playing in the next edition of the Champions League. Given this, Jürgen Klopp seems to already have a possible solution in mind to fix the team's defensive problem.
According to several reports, our Liverpool has already established that in addition to signing a midfielder -which seems to be Romeo Lavia- he also wants a central defender who can strengthen that area. Having conceded eleven goals in just five games is undoubtedly a sign that something is not working well and one of the candidates that sound to reinforce Liverpool in that position is Perr Schurrs, who currently plays for Torino in Serie A and is valued at €25 million according to the Transfermarkt portal.
